Saltero

MKP Soluble

Campbells Saltero provides a unique technology for minimising the effects of soil salts and enhancing benefits from applications of
calcium sources, including lime and gypsum.

Advantages:

Campbells Saltero improves the solubility of calcium in the soil, water and growing medium allowing increased leaching of harmful salts away from the root zone.  This enables your crop to make better use of fertilisers and irrigation water to maximise yield and quality.

  • Trial assessments in Australia and overseas show that Campbells Saltero consistently increases the available calcium in the soil and reduces sodium levels in the root zone.
  • The movement of salts away from the root zone helps with germination, reduces stress on transplants and improves water and nutrient uptake.
  • Many horticultural soils have had significant inputs of lime and/ or gypsum.  The application of Campbells Saltero will activate more of this calcium reserve in the soil allowing more sodium to be leached from the root zone.
  • Moving sodium away from the root zone will enhance the uptake of plant nutrients, especially phosphorus and calcium, creating better root growth and this will improve the overall crop growth, which ultimately leads to better yield and quality.

Application:

Campbells Saltero is an ideal inclusion to the Campbells Fertiliser Program for all crops grown in soils where salinity and sodicity are reducing the potential yield and quality.Campbells Saltero has an excellent fit with inputs of Campbells Calcium Nitrates and Thiocal, ensuring their maximum efficiency.  Saltero can be applied by fertigation or to the soil using a boom-spray and moved into the soil with rainfall or irrigation.

Rates:

Apply Campbells Saltero in a pre-plant application of 3-5 L/ha (applications rates for crops already planted or permanent crops can range from 1-5 L/ha, depending on the crops specific circumstances).  Repeat at intervals of about 4-5 weeks as necessary.  Rainfall or irrigation is required for the action of Campbells Saltero.  Leaching irrigation or rainfall is necessary to move salts down the soil profile.  The actual rates, number of applications and their timing will vary considerably for different crops and for different districts.  Before application, seek advice from your Campbells Saltero distributor or your local agronomist.
